Mid Week: Co-Wash

Date: October 30, 2013
I felt as if my hair did not have a successful wash day last Sunday. My hair was dry because I only moisturized and sealed once since I washed my hair. I know I know….that’s not a good thing to do but a girl gets tired sometime!
Enough is enough…
  1. I saturated my hair with warm water then applied VO5 Moisture Milks Moisturizing Conditioner. I detangled my hair with a paddle brush….yikes! All of a sudden my hair had flakes coming out. I don’t know if it’s from the gel, my hair, or the brush but I’m not using the brush anymore. The conditioner stayed in my hair for 45 minutes.
  2. Co-washed with Suaves Professional Almond & Shea Butter Conditioner.
  3. Next up, I did an ACV (Apple Cider Vinegar) Rinse.
  4. T-shirt dried for 30 minutes then added Aussie Hair Insurance Leave-in Conditioner, Heat Protectant and sealed it in with EVOO.

[[[The Overall Day?]]]
Overall, I did love this co-washing session. I blow dried my hair on a cool setting. My hair feels really soft and very smooth! The front of my hair is laid down nicely with no problems! As for styling, I added just a little bit of ECO Styler Gel to my edges and nape then tied my hair down until the morning.

How was your recent co-wash day?

No Hard Protein Treatment Today!

Happy Halloween!!

Today was supposed to be my hard protein day because I always do this at the end of the month. But, since I had a bad experience with protein last Sunday, I wasn’t going to do one. My hair still feels strong so I’m also afraid that I will have Protein Overload.

Tomorrow is a new beginning so I’m going to clarify my hair using Ion Clarifying Shampoo.

I hope that everyone is having a good Halloween so far. Be safe and have a great time tonight.

Fragrance: To me at the moment, it smells like pool water. I don’t understand why I think it smells like that but right now it does. I will smell it again very soon so that I can determine if it still smells like that.

I’ve always had LeKair on my mind every time I pass it in WalMart. It is very cheap and I hope that it will work wonders on my hair.

Has anyone tried this conditioner? Is it a good conditioner to use?

Wash Day

I know you all may be mad at me and I understand that this post was way OVERDUE!

I couldn’t decide whether or not my hair needed a protein treatment so I did the strand test and I determined that my hair needed moisture.
1.       Pre-poo with Organics Deep Conditioning Cream with Grapeseed Oil, EVOO and avocado oil.
2.       Shampoo with Aussie Moist Shampoo
3.       Black Tea Rinse for 45 minutes then added VO5 Smoothing Conditioner for an additional 30 minutes.
This is where things got messed up. While I was washing out the tea out of my hair, my hair was really stretchy and some strands popped. I went ahead and did a protein treatment to fix the problem.
4.       Deep Conditioned with ION Strengthening Conditioner, ORS Replenishing Conditioner and Hollywood Beauty Olive Cholesterol for 45 minutes.
My hair felt stiff a little bit but once I started to add in my leave-in and olis, my hair felt back to normal.
Overall, I’m okay with this wash day.

Mid Week: Co-Wash Days

I washed my hair Oct. 23
I’m trying to do something different with my hair for co-washing days. Instead of constantly stepping in and out of the shower, I decided to co-wash in one sitting.

  1. Made sure that my hair was fully saturated with luke-warm water.
  2. Used VO5 Moisturizing Conditioner twice. I detangled my hair both times I used the conditioner.
  3. Then I used Aussie Moist Conditioner once and detangled my hair for the final time.
  4. T-shirt dried my hair for 30 minutes then added Aussie Hair Insurance Leave-in Conditioner on my hair.
  5. My hair was 90% dry so I added EVOO and detangled.
  6. Then I did Bantu Knots.

In the morning, talk about  FAIL

Wash Day 2

Wash Day
  • Hot Oil treatment for the first time as a pre-poo. For my hot oil treatment, I will be using a mixture of: Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Vitamin E, Grapeseed, and Avocado Oil.

Application:

Place the bottle in a cup of hot/warm water for 10 minutes.

Section my hair in 4 sections and apply the oil to my scalp.

Massage my scalp to ensure the oil is evenly distributed.

Apply the remaining oil to the length of my hair.

Cover with a plastic cap for 45 minutes.
  • Shampoo with Herbal Essence Hello Hydration Moisturizing Shampoo.

  • Tea rinse with Earl Grey Black Tea for  45 minutes to 1hr.

How did your hair feel?

My hair felt really soft, especially my new growth! People say that the black tea will make the hair get darker but I’m thinking that my hair will do the same after more applications. This is definitely going into my hair regimen.

  • Applied VO5 Smoothing Conditioner for 30 minutes, then rinsed.

  • Deep conditioned with a mixture of: Aussie Moist 3 Minute Deeeeep Treatment, Hello Hydration Moisturizing Conditioner, EVOO and Grapeseed oil for 1 hr.

  • Sprayed hair with ACV Rinse (ACV= Apple Cider Vinegar)

Ratio of:

1/4 cup ACV and 2 cups water

  • I rinsed out with cold water

  • T-shirt dry for 30 minutes, sprayed with Aussie Leave-in conditioner, tied with a silk scarf until 80% dry; add extra virgin olive oil and detangled.

Trust and believe that I had a lot of slip and less breakage. I only noticed 5 strands of shedded hair.

[[The Overall Day?]]

Overall, I’m very pleased with this wash day. My hair came out soft and very smooth! I’m very happy that I got that high porosity situation under control with the ACV Rinse! As for the BTR or, black tea rinse, it’s definitely going to be incorporated into my regimen. The hot oil treatment is not going to be incorporated because it got way too messy for me and I feel as if I’m using a lot of oil for it to just sit on my hair for only 30 minutes.

After my hair was fully air dry, I added some Aloe Vera Gel to my edges and used a wet brush to evenly distribute it through my hair:

I’m looking forward to better wash days with my hair.

how was your recent wash day?

Mid Week: Co Wash

My hair was super dry and it was time for me to do something about it. Co-wash time :)

1.      Scalp massage with my oil mixture which contains

a.     Vitamin E Oil

b.     Grapeseed Oil

c.     Avocado Oil

d.     EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil)

I left it on my hair for about 4 hours while in class! No, I did not have a shower cap on my head.

2.      Co-washed my hair with Herbal Essence Hello Hydration Moisturizing Conditioner. After 3 minutes, my hair began to curl.

3.      Detangle in the shower.

4.      Added leave-ins and sealed with coconut oil.

5.      Added Aloe Vera and ECO Styler Gel to my edges.

6.      Using the scarf method to air-dry my hair.

Keeping my finger crossed and hoping that my hair will lay down.

With Love,

Tamara

Mid Week: Not So Good

My new growth and edges are always dry and frizzy. No matter the gel or hair lotion I apply to my hair and use a scarf to hold everything together, it still will not lay down.

When I lightly moisturized and sealed my hair, it will feel very wet in the morning. I don’t understand the cause of that.

My hair is never shiny and straight anymore. Before I began my hair journey, I always used grease and I constantly did coconut milk treatments, my hair was straight and shiny. Now that I’m on my HJ, it’s not the same anymore. It’s just super frizzy and curly.

What is a girl supposed to do????

With love,

Tamara Monroe
