Wash Day @ 42 Weeks Post

Ladies, my wash day routine has been so simply lately. Since I’ve been home from school, I rarely go anywhere so I keep my hair in 12 braids just to be ready.Throughout the week, I M&S when I feel that my hair is getting dry.


Saturday, my family and I went to the beach just to get out of the house and have fun. That’s when I finally got the chance to let my hair down. My hair was so moisturized and very soft. Until, that salt water reached my hair. Within seconds, my hair shrunk and I was looking crazy. Lol. I honestly thought that my hair would be very tangled but it was still soft.


The next day, before deciding to wash my hair, I noticed that my left eye was closing a bit and was in a lot of pain. I did a late wash day and still today, my eye has minor pain.


Simplicity is key….


Pre-poo: Coconut oil on my scalp and ends, left it on for 15 minutes
Shampoo: I was going to clarify my hair to remove any beach water from my hair but I decided not to because my hair still felt soft and moisturized. So, I used Herbal Essence Hello Hydration Shampoo.
Deep Condition: I keep it simple so I decided just to use coconut oil and Suave Tropical Coconut Conditioner. Lately I like to detangle my hair before putting on my shower cap because it really helps to cut the time in half while I’m rinsing my hair either in the kitchen sink or the shower. I kept this mixture in my hair for 15 minutes then rinsed it out under cold water.



I finally gotten the opportunity to take some texture shots. Is it possible if you can tell what my curl pattern is? I think that it's curly

I t-shirt dried my hair for 10 minutes then styled my hair using the LOC method.
L: Aloe Vera Juice + Water Mix
O: Coconut Oil
C: Suave Tropical Coconut Conditioner (dime sized amount)

Wash Day @ 40 Weeks Post


So, I washed my hair Sunday! But, I was taking care of my niece and been sick so I finally have the opportunity to do this post. I’m trying y’all, bare with me.


Before I decided to wash my hair, my hair was between the stages of moisturized and dry since my attempted bantu knot happened. Sometimes I wonder if my hair was longer, this bantu knot out would work out for me?


For this wash day, I decided to use basically the LOC method to deep condition. I used Aloe Vera Juice + Water Mix, Coconut Oil and Herbal Essence Hello Hydration Conditioner. Instantly, my hair felt very soft. I was very tired that night so I decided to finger detangle, put on my shower cap and deep conditioned over night.


After finally putting my niece to sleep, I had enough strength to wash my hair under cold water and I had a lot of slip. OMgee, I could easily slide my hands through my hair without any problems. I was low-key dancing in the shower. (Don’t judge me!) But, I was very thankful for finger detangling my hair before rinsing the conditioner out because I don’t know how much of that cold water I could take.


Immediately out of the shower, I t-shirt dried my hair for about an hour then proceeded to moisturize and seal my hair using the LOC method. This time, I used my Aloe Vera + Water Mix, Coconut Oil and African Pride Shea Miracle Leave-in Conditioner. You guys, I used to be so skeptical about this leave-in but now I swear by it.


After that failed bantu knot-out, I decided to go back to one of my go-to hairstyles which is a Braidout.



This is what my hair looked like for the past 3 days since I rarely go out anymore. My hair is still moisturized and Tuesday, I massaged Sunny Isle JBCO on my problem area which is on my last post here.















I finally have a close up of what my new growth looks like. I’m not too sure of what my pattern may look like because in some areas, I have wavy texture and on other areas, more curly textures. What do you ladies/gents think?

Where in the Hair have you been?

Tamara, where in the hair have you been? :3

I’ve been wanting to do a blog post since February when I posted my last one. What has been stopping me was College. I’m a Junior and I’m taking more intense classes such as Hospitality Financial Accounting 3, Food in Film and Literature, etc. It may not seem all that bad to you but the University that I attend is on a trimester basis so we learn things very quickly.

Anyways as a treat, I’m going to tell you what I have been doing for the past 2 weeks since they go together:

Week 1:



My hair has been very dry, matted and tangled since I came back home for the summer. North and South Carolina has different humidities so my hair is suffering for it.

Pre-poo: Within 4 sections, I applied coconut oil on scalp and length of my hair. Applying this oil helped loosen my strands a bit.

Shampoo: To remove any buildup on my hair since it’s been a while from the last time I cleansed it, I used Herbal Essence Hello Hydration Shampoo. This shampoo had to be applied 2x in each section because I felt like using it 1x wouldn’t be enough. My hair felt very soft, especially my new growth.

Deep Condition: Since I do not own a deep conditioner, I love to mix my conditioners and oils together since it always works for me. I used Suave Tropical Coconut Conditioner, Coconut Oil + 3 Drops of Simplicity Oil in each section. I left it on for 20 minutes and I came to the conclusion that I will try my hardest not to neglect my hair again.

A few days later, my hair was really dry, once again, my scalp was tender and no matter if I incorporated moisture in my hair, it would not work. Since it was being ambiguous, I decided to use a protein treatment:

Week 2:



A day before my next wash day,I applied Sunny Isle JBCO on my scalp, massaged it in then sprayed Aloe Vera Juice + Water Mix on my hair. I left that on for a day, it got dry once again. So, I had to spray with Aloe Vera Juice + Water again, applied Coconut Oil then applied Organics Hair Mayonnaise by Africa’s Best. I’m telling you, there was a difference as soon as I applied this conditioner to my hair. I was very generous.

To really give my hair some TLC, I deep conditioned with heat using my Laila Ali Conditioning Cap for 20-30 minutes. I had some trouble rinsing it out of my hair, since I did it in the kitchen. I have a big head (lol) so I had some trouble. The good thing is that I had a lot of slip with minimal shedding.

I do need a trim because I noticed some breakage.

Style: After t-shirt drying my hair for 15 minutes, I decided to do a braid out using the LOC Method:
  • Aloe Vera Juice + Water Mix
  • Coconut Oil
  • African Pride Olive Miracle Anti-Breakage Formula (PROTEIN BASED)
Since I did a protein treatment, I decided to use protein-based products throughout my whole wash day)

The next day, my hair was very soft, moisturized and I had a lot of movement! I think for now on, if I’m incorporating protein in my wash day, I will use protein based products during the whole time and the same thing if I’m incorporating moisture.

This has been a long battle so I’m very happy that I conquered it!

Wash Day: Clarification Day @ 22 Weeks Post

Hey guys! I’m so sorry for the late post but I had a big test to study for so Sunday was not a great day for me. Monday afternoon, my hair was going through it so I decided to grab my products and run to the bathroom.

Well, lets start with my hair before I washed it. I’ve been very tired lately so I did not moisturize and seal my hair for 2 days. Big MISTAKE. My hair was really dry, crunchy and I could not manage to touch it. It was hurting that bad. I thought that I needed another protein treatment but I just did that last week so I do not want any protein overload. What I did think about was doing something that I haven’t done in a while, clarify my hair.

I thought that clarifying would be a great choice because my hair has been acting weird. I did not pre-poo my hair because I’m getting rid of all of the product buildup since the last time I clarified my hair, which was a really long time.

I went in the shower and let my hair soak under warm water as I
massaged my scalp to lift up any dirt and/or buildup. I used Suave Naturals Clarifying Shampoo. Within sections, I shampooed my hair. The shampoo really made my hair feel soft until I rinsed my hair out and it felt stripped. I wasn’t too upset about it because I am clarifying my hair of any oils. After washing my hair, I grabbed Suave Professionals Almond & Shea Butter Conditioner. I was planning on rinsing this out and go deep condition but I was feeling a bit lazy so I stepped out the shower and just deep conditioned with that conditioner. About an hour later, I rinsed it out in cold water.

For the past few days, I did not detangle my hair so that was a major pain killer. I caught hell just trying to do that. Since I wear glasses I thought that I lost a lot of hair but compared to days where a lot came out, it was a breeze in the wind. I rinsed this out under cold water. I have to find a really good deep conditioner because it seems as if nothing is really working for me anymore.
For the longest, I’ve wanted straight hair for the longest, but I’m really scared to straighten it because of my set back that happened in November. I only blow dried my hair but I neglected it so much that I had major buildup and my hair was falling out. I’m still recovering so the next time I will straighten my hair with heat will be in April when I turn 21!


That’s when it came to mind where I could do a heat-less blowout. I did this with these simple steps:
  1. Applied a scarf to lay my edges down
  2. Tied my hair into 6 small ponytails to aid into straightening my new growth
  3. After a few hours, moisturized and sealed using shea butter and BB Oil Moisturizer
  4. Detangled with a paddle brush
  5. Air dry until the morning
  6. Style as desired.

The way that I styled my hair was section my hair in the front into two parts, twists them then pinned them up. My hair has always been shorter in the front versus the back. Since I haven’t straightened my hair since September, this would be the best way for me.

Results: My hair is still kind of tangled but I can manage with it. I’ve learned this week that I need to M&S on a daily basis because it will hurt me in the long run if I don’t. I do need to find a really good deep conditioner that’s within budget because I cannot afford an expensive conditioner at the moment.

Wash Day @ 21 Weeks Post

Today’s wash day is all about simplicity! I was not in the mood to do my hair for the day so all I wanted to do was relax. I know that I needed protein badly because my scalp was getting really sensitive. I grabbed some products and proceeded with my wash day:
[1] I detangled my hair with my fingers only.
[2] I proceeded to apply ORS Hair Mayonnaise within 4 sections.

I got this product at a discounted price from Walmart. I smelled the product and it smelled really weird to me but it was a better smell than the Organics by Africa’s Best Hair Mayonnaise that I usually buy. My first encounter with this Hair Mayonnaise wasn't good. My hair felt a bit stiff even though I did not have protein overload. This time, my hair immediately had slip and a little bit of product went a long way. I was really impressed.
[3] I DC without heat using 45 minutes using a shower cap.
[4] I ran to the shower and rinsed the conditioner out under warm water. My hair felt really good. I was a bit curious to see how my hair would take if I use a moisturizing conditioner to balance out my hair. I did this by applying Herbal Essence Hello Hydration Moisturizing Conditioner and put back on the same shower cap until I was finished washing.

I regret this!

My hair felt very weird after rinsing this out. My hair felt a bit stiff and I did not like that feeling.
[5] I t-shirt dried my hair for 25 minutes and my hair was still a bit soaked. Is that good or bad?
[6] I proceeded to do the LOC method on my hair using Shea Butter and BB Hair Moisturizer. I did not use any water since my hair was still wet.
[7] I decided to do another braid out. The final thing I did was applied Simplicity Hair Oil to my edges and nape and proceeded to bed.
Overall, this wash day was great. What I learned from this wash day is that I do not have to use a moisturizing conditioner after I do a protein treatment. In the morning, my hair was really soft and still moisturized. I loved it.


I’m sorry for this late post but your girl got LAZY! Trust me, I’m working on it!!

#Co Wash Wednesdays

My hair has been feeling a big *ugh* lately. I want to say that its being ambiguous but I’m not sure at the moment. My Sunday wash day was horrific so I was eager to do my Co-Wash Wednesday.

But, after today, I’m feeling a bit insecure about my hair…

“Simplicity is Key”

[1] Pre-poo: I pre-pooed using JBCO to my scalp and massaged it in using my fingers. My scalp is feeling a bit sensitive so that massage felt really good. I put on a shower cap and left it in for about 4 hours, due to my best friend.
[2] Under warm water, I rinsed my hair within 4 sections to really allow my hair to open up to absorb the moisture in.
[3] Co-wash: Applied my favorite conditioner, Herbal Essence Hello Hydration Conditioner. I put on a shower cap and let the conditioner sit on my hair a bit as I finished my shower.
[4] Under cold water, I detangled my hair to help with rinsing the conditioner out.

Results: My hair felt so weird. It felt a bit stringy and felt as if there’s a film over it. I haven’t clarified my hair in a while so I might have to do that very soon. It also was weird to me because my hair did not feel mushy at all. I don’t know if my hair is in dying need of protein.

The reason why I said I’m insecure about my hair is because of my problem area, the front section. My edges have been struggling a lot lately and I had a receding hairline since I was a little girl. This was wayyyy before my mother relaxed my hair. I’ve never seen it look like that before and it just made me feel very ugly and caused me to have doubts again.
But, I’m not giving up!


[5] Styling: I proceeded using the L.O.C method using my favorite trio:
            L: Water
            O: Shea Butter
            C: BB Oil Moisturizer with Castor Oil and Aloe

Twists are not my thing anymore so I decided to braid my hair in big plats. I’m so happy that my braids are not taking me so long anymore. Usually, it takes me roughly 1 hour 30 minutes to do my braids but it only took me 30 minutes to do this. Once I was finished with the braids, I decided to use perm rods on the ends.

I’ve been using Simplicity Oil recently to my edges and nape area. Hopefully this will help out with my problem area. I’m not giving up.

Wash Day Sundays

First Wash day of the year!

I’ve been doing some thinking and I really want to change around my blog. I’m planning on writing a post 3x a week and I’m thinking about doing YT videos about my hair. For the posts, I’m thinking about doing Sunday, Wednesdays and Fridays. These are the days where I wash my hair except for Friday. On Friday, it’s just going to be Random posts talking about hair updates, product reviews, etc. Okay, back to my hair!

1)     Pre-poo was inspired by Naptural85’s 25 Minute Co-Wash + Detangling Video which will be linked here. I used Coconut Oil and Suave Naturals Tropical Coconut Conditioner. I used my lovely Laila Ali’s Conditioning Cap for 30 minutes. The product review post will be here. So, I put the cap setting to high and started screaming because I forgot that the heating wire was on my forehead. Instead of getting help, my best friend decided to just laugh. Lol
2)     I shampooed using Aussie’s Moist Shampoo twice. I love pre-pooing before I shampoo because my hair does not feel stripped at all. I did this part twice. My hair still felt soft and very moisturized.
   3)     I t-shirt dried my hair for a few minutes then applied Hollywood Beauty Olive Cholesterol. Since it was so early in the morning, I decided to leave this on overnight and proceed to wash it out in the morning.
   4)     In the morning, I rinsed it out with cool running water. My hair does not like this product anymore. My hair felt so weird BUT I’m not giving up just yet since I’m in need of protein. I’ve been staying away from protein for a few weeks because I used it 2x in a row. To prevent having protein overload, I just incorporated moisture in my hair constantly. I would rather get moisture overload because that is easier to fix.
  5)     I air dried after using a t-shirt to soak up most of the water. I air dried with chunky twists without any product.
6)     I’m trying to change up my hairstyles since my go-to hairstyle is a Twist-out. I remember when I was first on my hair journey and tried to do a braid out and it came out horrible. My hair was really dry and it was a frizzy mess. Soo, this time, I was hoping that it will come out better. I used the L.O.C. Method using Water, Shea Butter and Cantu Shea Butter Leave-in Conditioning Cream.
