Stretching Update

There have been a lot of happiness and some setbacks but I’m still trying to determine to stretch a few more weeks. My hair has been very very dry for the past few days. I don’t understand the cause of it besides the fact that I’ve been sick once again. My hair has been very frizzy as well.

You all should know that it’s fall/winter time so you have to take care of your hair! A few months ago, I learned about the L.O.C. Method which is moisturizing the hair with just liquid, oil and cream. It’s supposed to seal in the moisture in your hair. Recently from the founder of www.hairlista.com Sunshyne, she introduced the L.C.O. Method which is the Liquid, Cream and Oil method. I tried it out for myself using

-Water –EVOO & Leave-in Cream

My hair was moisturized and feeling fine until the next morning.

My hair was fried!!!!!!!

Take note that none of the products used were protein based.

I’m still going to do research.

Today I DC’d my hair which will be up tonight. (December 12)

My hair will be relaxed by December 22-Jan 1. By that time, I will be 18-19 weeks.

How many weeks do you stretch your relaxers?

Just Purchased

Small Haul

Hey all! I’m doing and feeling a lot better. I’ve been very slick this past Thanksgiving Break. I’m hoping and praying that I’ll feel back to normal so that I can begin my internship.
During the week, I managed to run some errands with my father and sister and I decided to pick up a few things.
So many people talk about coconut oil. I was running out of my oil and I thought that I couldn’t afford it again because I’m a college girl. That’s when I say it at Sam’s for $8. I noticed that people who are on blogs and especially people on YouTube, love coconut oil so much that they run out of it. I do have more oils but I wanted to at least find a big container so that it will last me a while.
 Betterbodyfoods
Orgainic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

28 fl oz

$8

Promises: Our Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, cold-pressed from fresh coconuts, is one of the healthiest oils in the world. Full of MCT’s aka good fats, Coconut Oils is an immediate source of energy. It is cholesterol-free, making it a perfect substitute for butter or margarine in cooking and baking. It also makes a great moisturizer! No other oil has more benefits that go beyond the kitchen.

TBH…. These aren’t really promises because it is just telling people what is in the coconut oil. There would have to be a lot of research to actually determine if all of this is accurate.
When I opened the bottle up to smell it, it actually smelled like it just came out of the actual coconut. Before I bought this bottle, I was using LouAna Coconut Oil. It didn’t have a smell to it at all so the extra virgin coconut oil has some benefits for me and my hair.

For the longest, I wanted a Denman Brush because of the good comments about it. I went to Sally’s and found the Denman Brush. Talk about jumping up and down and very excited that I did not have to pay for it through Amazon and wait for it to come to my home. After a good five minutes of jumping up and down, I went to get my wallet to determine how much money I had at the moment but NO MONEY!! Y’all, I was so upset but I found it again at K-Mart

Donna

Donna Medium Styling Brush #732

$8

Even though, it is not the exact same Denman Brush, I noticed that it was a duplicate. The feel and look the same. The company name is Donna. Just like Denman, I noticed that there are three available styles.:
Medium Styling Brush #732
Large Styling Brush #733
Large Paddle Brush #736

Promises: The Donna name is recognized as a fine quality collection. Our personal promise of quality is in each and every one of our products. Look for our complete line of fine quality brushes available only from Donna.

I will definitely do a review on both products.

Have you ever tried this product? What are the benefits to it?

If there are any questions, feel free to put them down below.

HHJ,

xoxo

I'm Back

I’m Back Finally!!

Hey lovelies! Let me explain…

I’ve been very very sick during my break from school but I’m trying to get better. First of all, I want to say, Happy Late Thanksgiving. I’m very thankful or my family and my niece who is coming in two months. I’m also very thankful for seeing another day and conquering through being sick throughout the whole Fall Term. I say that because there were days where I did not want to go to classes due to the fact that I was ill and couldn’t breathe. But, I managed to get back on the Dean’s List. Other than that, I’m thankful every day for my life. I know you all are arguing what my hair is like right now. It’s a little dry because I need to M&S tonight. Besides that, my hair is getting thicker and becoming healthier.

While I’ve been MIA, I’ve been thinking about a lot of things. I’m going to do some changes to my blog by trying to change my background and motivate people to promote hair growth. But, I’m going to have a set schedule to keep you ladies and gents informed.

Look forward and stay tuned into my blog….

Xoxo

New Product

Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Anti-Frizz Serum

Prices: Dollar General: $5 | Amazon: $6 | Walgreens: $6 | Walmart: $5 Target: $5
Promises: Get the most intense smoothing yet from sleek and shine anti-frizz serum. Now it locks out frizz for a full 3 days, even in a 97% humidity.

My hair is constantly dry and is always in need of moisture. I learned about serums and they tend to leave the hair very soft and smooth. I also wanted to find a serum that can minimize the fizziness with my hair.
The only serum that I found was the Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Anti-Frizz Serum. It is supposed to help with frizzy, dry, unmanageable hair. So far my hair really loves it but I’m going to wait to give it a review. Make sure you all check that out.

Mid Week

Co-Wash Day

This was done November 6, 2013

I decided to co-wash my hair today because my hair was sooooo dry and I wanted to take control of that. I thought that today was the day that I was going to try my Herbal Essence Totally Twisted Conditioner.

  1. I part my hair within 4 sections and fully saturated my hair with warm water then added HE TT Conditioner. I experienced that my hair had a lot of slip with this product!
  2. I proceeded to deep condition my hair using the LeKair Cholesterol Plus Strengthening & Conditioning Cream, EVOO and Hollywood Beauty Olive Cholesterol Deep Conditioning Crème. I left that on for an hour.
  3. I then used a microfiber hair towel to get the excess water. I added oil to my scalp then added 2 Leave-ins: Aussie Hair Insurance Leave-in Conditioner and Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Leave-in Cream and sealed it in with grapeseed oil.
  4.  I air dried my hair for an hour then blow dried once my hair was 50% dry.

[[[[The Overall Day?]]]]

The overall day, I’m beginning to like Herbal Essence Totally Twisted Conditioner! It had my hair really moisturized! But I’m beginning to dislike the LeKair Conditioner because it caused my hair to feel a little stiff. As for my hair, I just added some ECO Styler Gel to my edges and put my hair in a ponytail.

Mid Week: Hair Heavy

November 4, 2013

As you all know, I washed my hair Friday using my Clarifying Shampoo. I oiled my scalp a day later using my Eucalyptus Oil, EVOO, Grapeseed Oil, Avocado Oil and Vitamin E Oil. I only put a little bit of that mixture on my scalp for the scalp massage. It made my hair feel very good and cool. But two days later, my hair feels very dry and my hair felt weighed down. My hands were covered with oil whenever I wanted to moisturize and seal my hair. I decided to skip the M&S session and I went to the shower to wet my hair to get some of the oil out. It really helped me!

Have you ever had this problem with your hair? How did you solve it?

Until next time,

Tamara

Just Purchased

Herbal Essence: Totally Twisted Conditioner

I was shopping at Wal-Mart today just looking through the hair products and accessories and found some things that were on sale. When I say sale, I mean half off everything. Some of the hair products were Nexxus, Suave, Garnier Fructis and Herbal Essence. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on a product but when I saw the price, I couldn’t let it go.

Price: $1.50
Purchased At: Wal-Mart
Promises: Twist & Shout: Lushly defined waves begin with a high-intensity moisturizing conditioner. It helps to remove the frizz factor and replenish vital moisturizers to keep your curls bouncy and beautiful.
Curls and Boys: You’ll have them wrapped around your finger in no time. Totally Twisted curl boosting mousse defies humidity to keep your shiny, springy curls bouncing.
This product is mainly for removing frizz and keeps the hair moisturized so that the curls stay bouncy and beautiful. I definitely want my frizz to be gone because every time I want a sleek look for my hair, the frizz takes over and my hairstyle is not the way I want it to look and I feel stupid.
I’m going to keep my hands crossed because I really want this frizz to be over with. Trust me, I really need this!
I tried to look at some reviews but I’ve only seen Natural ladies talk about this. I believe that this will work well for my new growth but we’ll see. I’m going to give this product a try, 3-4 times then I’m going to write a review.

Have you ever used this product? How did it work on your hair?

Wash Day

Clarifying Day!

Happy November Ladies <3

You all know what day it is….it’s the day to clarify my hair. I usually do this once a month but a second one may be needed if I experience a lot of buildup in my hair. That usually doesn’t occur.

Moving on…

  1. I clarified my hair using Ion Clarifying Shampoo. I made sure that my hair was fully saturated before applying. I feel as if I’m saving shampoo if I only apply it to my scalp and massaging it in using the tips of my fingers.
  2. Next I used my moisturizing shampoo to add some moisture to my hair by using Herbal Essence Hello Hydration Moisturizing Shampoo.
  3. My hair felt a little strippy so I decided to do a protein treatment. OMG I wish I never mixed these certain ingredients because it smelled so weird! I used Organics Hair Mayonnaise, ORS Replenishing Conditioner and actual mayonnaise. I don’t think I will use the mayonnaise because it smelled so weird to me after mixing everything together. I left that smelly concoction on my hair for 45 minutes.

  4. Once everything was washed out, I went to my deep conditioning session by using Hollywood Beauty Olive Cholesterol Deep Conditioning Crème, LeKair Cholesterol Strengthening and Conditioning Cream and EVOO. I wanted it to be a little liquid-y but it seemed as if the more oil I added into it, the thicker it became so I stopped trying. I left that mixture on for an hour.
  5. Finally, I did my ACV Rinse and I was finished in the shower.
  6. T-shirt dried for 30 minutes then added my leave in, heat protectant and some EVOO then proceeded to blow dry my hair on COOL hair. The reason why I keep on blow drying my hair is because the room was really good and I get sick quick so I didn’t want to mess that up due to the fact that I was sick not too long ago. After, I added some ECO Styler Gel to my edges and nape then wrapped my hair up.

[[[The Overall Day]]]

Overall, my hair is feeling okay. I forgot to mention that when I added my final deep conditioner, my hair felt a little stiff. It’s not too bad because my hair is still manageable. After adding my leave-in heat protectant and oil, my hair felt back to normal. I believe it was the LeKair that caused the entire ruckus but I’m not going to put the blame all on the product yet until I do a little more research and get a few more usage out of it. But besides that, my hair feels pretty good. The only thing that I’m still trying to work on is my frizz. I still don’t understand but the front of my hair is so frizzy that I cannot stand it anymore. I just don’t know what to do. I’m going to do some more research!

When do you clarify your hair?

Mid Week: Co-Wash

Date: October 30, 2013
I felt as if my hair did not have a successful wash day last Sunday. My hair was dry because I only moisturized and sealed once since I washed my hair. I know I know….that’s not a good thing to do but a girl gets tired sometime!
Enough is enough…
  1. I saturated my hair with warm water then applied VO5 Moisture Milks Moisturizing Conditioner. I detangled my hair with a paddle brush….yikes! All of a sudden my hair had flakes coming out. I don’t know if it’s from the gel, my hair, or the brush but I’m not using the brush anymore. The conditioner stayed in my hair for 45 minutes.
  2. Co-washed with Suaves Professional Almond & Shea Butter Conditioner.
  3. Next up, I did an ACV (Apple Cider Vinegar) Rinse.
  4. T-shirt dried for 30 minutes then added Aussie Hair Insurance Leave-in Conditioner, Heat Protectant and sealed it in with EVOO.

[[[The Overall Day?]]]
Overall, I did love this co-washing session. I blow dried my hair on a cool setting. My hair feels really soft and very smooth! The front of my hair is laid down nicely with no problems! As for styling, I added just a little bit of ECO Styler Gel to my edges and nape then tied my hair down until the morning.

With Love,
Tamara
How was your recent co-wash day?

No Hard Protein Treatment Today!

Happy Halloween!!

Today was supposed to be my hard protein day because I always do this at the end of the month. But, since I had a bad experience with protein last Sunday, I wasn’t going to do one. My hair still feels strong so I’m also afraid that I will have Protein Overload.

Tomorrow is a new beginning so I’m going to clarify my hair using Ion Clarifying Shampoo.

I hope that everyone is having a good Halloween so far. Be safe and have a great time tonight.

With Love,

Tamara

I’ve always had LeKair on my mind every time I pass it in WalMart. It is very cheap and I hope that it will work wonders on my hair.

Has anyone tried this conditioner? Is it a good conditioner to use?

Wash Day

I know you all may be mad at me and I understand that this post was way OVERDUE!

I couldn’t decide whether or not my hair needed a protein treatment so I did the strand test and I determined that my hair needed moisture.
1.       Pre-poo with Organics Deep Conditioning Cream with Grapeseed Oil, EVOO and avocado oil.
2.       Shampoo with Aussie Moist Shampoo
3.       Black Tea Rinse for 45 minutes then added VO5 Smoothing Conditioner for an additional 30 minutes.
This is where things got messed up. While I was washing out the tea out of my hair, my hair was really stretchy and some strands popped. I went ahead and did a protein treatment to fix the problem.
4.       Deep Conditioned with ION Strengthening Conditioner, ORS Replenishing Conditioner and Hollywood Beauty Olive Cholesterol for 45 minutes.
My hair felt stiff a little bit but once I started to add in my leave-in and olis, my hair felt back to normal.
Overall, I’m okay with this wash day.
With Love, Tamara

Mid Week: Co-Wash Days

I washed my hair Oct. 23
I’m trying to do something different with my hair for co-washing days. Instead of constantly stepping in and out of the shower, I decided to co-wash in one sitting.

  1. Made sure that my hair was fully saturated with luke-warm water.
  2. Used VO5 Moisturizing Conditioner twice. I detangled my hair both times I used the conditioner.
  3. Then I used Aussie Moist Conditioner once and detangled my hair for the final time.
  4. T-shirt dried my hair for 30 minutes then added Aussie Hair Insurance Leave-in Conditioner on my hair.
  5. My hair was 90% dry so I added EVOO and detangled.
  6. Then I did Bantu Knots.

In the morning, talk about  FAIL

Wash Day 2

Wash Day
  • Hot Oil treatment for the first time as a pre-poo. For my hot oil treatment, I will be using a mixture of: Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Vitamin E, Grapeseed, and Avocado Oil.

Application:

Place the bottle in a cup of hot/warm water for 10 minutes.

Section my hair in 4 sections and apply the oil to my scalp.

Massage my scalp to ensure the oil is evenly distributed.

Apply the remaining oil to the length of my hair.

Cover with a plastic cap for 45 minutes.
  • Shampoo with Herbal Essence Hello Hydration Moisturizing Shampoo.

  • Tea rinse with Earl Grey Black Tea for  45 minutes to 1hr.

How did your hair feel?

My hair felt really soft, especially my new growth! People say that the black tea will make the hair get darker but I’m thinking that my hair will do the same after more applications. This is definitely going into my hair regimen.

  • Applied VO5 Smoothing Conditioner for 30 minutes, then rinsed.

  • Deep conditioned with a mixture of: Aussie Moist 3 Minute Deeeeep Treatment, Hello Hydration Moisturizing Conditioner, EVOO and Grapeseed oil for 1 hr.

  • Sprayed hair with ACV Rinse (ACV= Apple Cider Vinegar)

Ratio of:

1/4 cup ACV and 2 cups water

  • I rinsed out with cold water

  • T-shirt dry for 30 minutes, sprayed with Aussie Leave-in conditioner, tied with a silk scarf until 80% dry; add extra virgin olive oil and detangled.

Trust and believe that I had a lot of slip and less breakage. I only noticed 5 strands of shedded hair.

[[The Overall Day?]]

Overall, I’m very pleased with this wash day. My hair came out soft and very smooth! I’m very happy that I got that high porosity situation under control with the ACV Rinse! As for the BTR or, black tea rinse, it’s definitely going to be incorporated into my regimen. The hot oil treatment is not going to be incorporated because it got way too messy for me and I feel as if I’m using a lot of oil for it to just sit on my hair for only 30 minutes.

After my hair was fully air dry, I added some Aloe Vera Gel to my edges and used a wet brush to evenly distribute it through my hair:

I’m looking forward to better wash days with my hair.

how was your recent wash day?

Tamara
